Portrait painting

A portrait is alive, if in addition to a likeness, it has also captured the character of the subject. Live posing sessions can bring a sense of what lies behind the sitter’s outward appearance. It may be, of course, that only a photo is available from which to paint; in that case, it is the client’s stories and memories which can help to inform the image being painted. The labor involved depends upon the particular demands of the project; its technique, its size, as well as any client special requests.
